Construction works between Hudson Institute/MIMR and MHRP buildings

Construction of the new two-storey Monash University Biobank facility will commence on Monday, 18 February. Builders will begin setting up the work site from next week.

DURATION
February – September 2019, however regular updates will be provided to all personnel to confirm expected changes to the construction end-date as the project progresses.

LOCATION
Rear of the Hudson Institute/MIMR building (see map below) where the liquid nitrogen storage cage is currently located.

ACCESS
  • Pedestrian access to the site will be maintained along the existing pedestrian crossing, however, there will be no entry/exit via the rear door of the Hudson Institute/MIMR building.
  • Enter the Hudson Institute/MIMR building from the front entrance (Wright Street), MHRP Level 3 link bridge or Level 2 E Block link bridge.
  • Access to the liquid nitrogen cage will only be from inside the Hudson Institute/MIMR building rear exit, and there will be no exit out towards the MHRP building.
  • Hudson Institute Store will only be accessed via the internal entry (reception end).
  • Access to the road under the bridge between the MHRP and Hudson Institute/MIMR buildings will be significantly restricted once works commence.
  • Kanooka Grove entry to the MMC site will be closed to vehicles during the construction period.
  • A small delivery drop-off bay will be created at the Kanooka Grove entry and vehicles will be required to reverse (or turn around, if able to do so) to exit back onto Kanooka Grove.
  • Delivery vehicles will be able to access the TRF Loading Dock from the hospital service road (ring road).

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO?
  • Notify the Hudson Institute Store as soon as possible if you are expecting delivery of large items of equipment.
  • If you need to transport small dewars of liquid nitrogen from the liquid nitrogen cage to your laboratory, carefully plan your route or request assistance from ohse@hudson.org.au
  • Be aware of delivery trucks and construction works when walking past the works zone and along Kanooka Drive.
  • Obey all safety and directional signage that will be erected around the works zone.

Please note: the rear door of the Hudson Institute/MIMR building will still be available for use in an emergency. No access will be allowed at any other time.
