L-R: Dr Morag Young, Professor Peter Fuller and Dr Jun Yang
|
This is the maximum funding level available from this competitive scheme, which is open to individuals and teams, and provides funding for products and services offered by the Monash Research Platforms.
Dr Yang's project (Centre for Endocrinology and Metabolism and the School of Clinical Sciences) was awarded $9 600 for RNA-Seq data generation at the MHTP Medical Genomics Facility and $5 400 for analysis of RNA-Seq data by the Monash Bioinformatics Platform.
These data will be generated from patient samples with a view to identifying biomarkers for primary aldosteronism, a potentially curable form of hypertension which is often misdiagnosed and ineffectively treated.
Dr Yang's aim is to improve diagnosis so that patients can be correctly treated and enjoy increased quality of life.
