I’m pleased to announce that Cancer Council Victoria’s Venture Grants Scheme 2019 is now open.
Our Venture Grants Scheme supports innovative researchers with courageous ideas who would not be able to attract conventional funding. We’re looking for cancer research projects that show blue-sky thinking and have the potential to really change the future of cancer outcomes for all Australians.
This year we’re expanding our search for cancer breakthroughs by encouraging applications from a broader range of disciplines, in addition to laboratory and clinical-based research. Innovative ideas are invited from the full spectrum of Victorian cancer research activity including psychosocial, palliative care, allied health, epidemiology, health economics, behavioural and clinical research.
Available funding
Each grant will run for 1- 2 years with a maximum of $250,000 available per year, per grant.
Further information including application forms is available on our website.

The first two rounds of our Venture Grants Scheme have been successful incubators for early research ideas, allowing projects to develop from a proof of concept into mature projects eligible for conventional funding.
We’re looking forward to receiving your bold and imaginative research ideas that could lead to life-saving cancer breakthroughs.
Best wishes
