Students present oral and poster presentations, as well as Three-Minute Thesis competition-style presentations. This year’s Student Symposium was held on Friday, 31 May 2019 at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville.
Mary Mansilla, Jennifer Hutchison, Manizha Shekibi, Ellen Jarred and Ruby Oberin, PhD students from the Centre for Reproductive Health (CRH) attended the conference.
Ellen gave a three-minute thesis presentation, while Mary, Jennifer and Manizha presented their research as oral presentations.
Alongside presentation opportunities, there were excellent networking opportunities with students from across Victoria.
Guest speakers were Dr Sarah Hanieh (a paediatric infectious diseases physician and post-doctoral Research Fellow in the International and Immigrant Health Group in The University of Melbourne’s Department of Medicine at the Doherty Institute), and Associate Professor Victoria Manning (an Associate Professor in Addiction Studies at Monash, and Head of Research and Workforce Development at Turning Point) who shed light on their own experiences in academia, and lessons they had learned along the way.
