Professor Rob McLachlan awarded Life Membership of the Fertility Society of Australia

Professor Rob McLachlan AM has been awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Fertility Society of Australia at the FSA's annual meeting in September.

The award was made in recognition of his lifetime of contribution to reproductive medicine.

The Board of FSA noted that its approval of the award was unanimous, and that the award was made to recognise Professor McLachlan’s outstanding contribution over many years to the activities and goals of the Society.

Professor McLachlan heads the Clinical Andrology Group in the Centre for Endocrinology and Metabolism.

He is also:

  • Deputy Head of the Monash Health Endocrine Unit,
  • A consultant andrologist to the Monash IVF program,
  • Consultant to the WHO subcommittee for Research on Methods for the Regulation of Male Fertility, and
  • The Director of Healthy Male, which is a national organisation that provides easy access to the latest scientific and medical research on male reproductive and sexual health.

He has expertise in clinical research, andrology, endocrinology, testosterone, infertility, spermatogenesis, androgens, assisted reproduction and health promotion and policy, and has published widely in all of these areas.

The FSA is the peak body representing scientists, doctors, researchers, nurses, consumers and counsellors in reproductive medicine in Australia and New Zealand.

The Society provides clinical guidance in reproductive medical practice and oversees the standard of fertility service offered in both countries.

Its annual scientific meeting attracts experts in reproductive health from around the world to present research and discuss new technologies and treatments.
