Professor Kate Loveland's honorary title of Liebig Professor with the Justus-Liebig University (JLU) was formally renewed on Wednesday, 16 January, acknowledging her important work with the German University.
Prof Loveland first received the honour in 2014 for her work
developing the International PhD Research Training Group in the Pathogenesis of
Male Reproduction (IRTG), a collaboration between Monash University and JLU.
The title was renewed at a meeting with Monash research and
education leaders, during presentation by the President of JLU, Professor
Joybrato Mukherjee.
The IRTG was established in 2013, then renewed in 2017
through funding from the German Research Foundation ($10 million) and support
from Monash University ($4 million). The objective is to train a new generation
of researchers to tackle a critical global health issue, men’s reproductive
health.
“The renewal of the title conveys the importance that
Justus-Liebig University places on the IRTG as an important link with our local
research teams at Hudson Institute and Monash University. The opportunity to
work with JLU colleagues who have particular strengths in clinical research,
has created significant national and international capacity for our research and
for research training to address unmet needs in the field of male reproductive
orders,” Prof Loveland said.
“This program underpins our strength in male reproductive
research at Hudson Institute.”
