3D Bioprinting Technology available at MHTP

Dr Gordon McPhee

One of the most versatile 3D Bioprinting setups on the market is available for scientists to use at the MHTP Cell Therapies and Regenerative Medicine (CTRM) platform.

The GeSim BioScaffolder 3.1 can accommodate a wide variety of ‘bio-inks’ containing cell types of your choice, constructing them in to therapeutically relevant 3D structures for in vitro examination.

As well as traditional ‘bio-ink’ printing, the BioScaffolder comes with Melt Electrowriting upgrades enabling the creation of interwoven biocompatible polymer scaffolds to provide structural support to 3D prints.

The set up also includes a piezoelectric nanopipette to dispense relevant matrix proteins or deploy multiple cells from suspension with high special accuracy.

The BioScaffolder is offered as part of the wider Monash Medtech initiative (M2) that exists between the MHTP, CSIRO and Monash University. For more information on the capabilities within this network, please visit http://www.monashmedtech.org or speak to staff in the Cell Therapies and Regenerative Medicine Platform on Level 4 of the TRF.
