Dear colleagues,
Please disseminate the following funding opportunities to your relevant areas
The Australian Government Department of Health have announced that two schemes have opened today to provide funding disbursements from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF). These schemes are:
The Lifting Clinical Trials and Registries Capacity (LCTRC) Grant Program
The expected outcomes of the LTCTRC Grant Program are to provide new opportunities for clinical trial participation and associated benefits from accessing the latest research; to give attention to under-researched health priorities and conditions, such as rare cancers and rare diseases; to allow deployment of innovative trial designs and recruitment strategies; to allow purposeful health service engagement to improve the translation of research into practice and improve outcomes for patients; to allow new health treatments, drugs and devices to improve health and well being; and to reinforce Australia’s position as a preferred destination for clinical trials. A total of $13 million has been allocated from the MRFF for the LCTRC Grant Program. Grants of up to five years duration will be considered with funding to commence in January 2018. It is anticipated that up to ten grants will be funded.
Antimicrobial Resistance Targeted Call for Research Grant
The Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Program will facilitate research on antimicrobial usage and AMR in Australia, consistent with the objectives of the National Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy 2015–2019. It will seek to identify novel diagnostic and surveillance technologies, and antimicrobial stewardship approaches to protect Australia against the threat of AMR. A total of $5.9 million has been allocated from the MRFF for the AMR TCR grant opportunity. Grants of up to five years duration will be considered with funding to commence from January 2018. It is expected that up to five grants will be funded.
Further details on either opportunity can be found at the following link.
