Dr Courtney McDonald receives Inner Wheel Australia research grant

Dr Courtney McDonald has been awarded a $65,000 grant from Inner Wheel Australia for her research into the use of stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood for the treatment of perinatal brain injury.

Dr McDonald accepted the grant at the Inner Wheel Australia Gala Dinner last Friday. She is pictured here with Inner Wheel International President, Oluyemisi Alatise, and other grant recipients.

To date, Inner Wheel Australia has contributed more than $2 million in support of umbilical cord blood research, raised through its National "Coin for a Cord" Day.

Inner Wheel are long-term supporters of the Ritchie Centre's research on umbilical stem cells.
