Around 10 members of the Geelong Prostate Cancer Support Group
have toured the Monash Health Translation Precinct to hear about the latest prostate
cancer research and treatments.
The group met with A/Prof Ron Firestein, Head of the Hudson
Institute Centre for Cancer Research and Dr Arun Azad, Monash Health medical oncologist
and Monash University Senior Research Fellow.
A tour of the TRF clinical trials and cancer floors was followed by presentations from A/Prof
Firestein, who spoke about the latest developments in precision medicine within Australia and worldwide.
Dr Azad spoke to the group about currently available prostate
cancer drugs and clinical trials on offer in Victoria.
The Prostate Cancer Support Group plans to present the
information to the rest of their members.
