The Hudson Institute Student Society will be hosting a
barbecue to mark International Women’s Day on Tuesday (March 8).
Make a gold coin donation to enjoy a sausage,
hamburger or veggie burger in the sun for a good cause. All funds raised will be donated
to a women’s charity.
International Women’s Day is a United Nations initiative,
and the theme of this year is #PledgeForParity. The World Economic Forum estimated in 2015 that a slowdown in
the already glacial pace of progress meant the gender gap won't close entirely until 2133.
Everyone - men and women -
can pledge to take a concrete step to help achieve gender parity more quickly -
whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for
gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more
inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias.
All staff and students are welcome to attend the barbecue
will take place on the grassed area outside the TRF (the Japanese Garden).
