Do and don’ts of safety

     -  After returning to work from a period of absence do not jump right back in to work. It is important to reassess your work environment and the work procedures.

- Take time to make sure you know what you are doing. Ensure you have read the risk assessments and implement the risk controls for the procedures.

- Staying alert or being present in the job is important. Holiday stress could bring work fatigue risks. Hence do not undertake tasks if you are overtired.

- Take frequent breaks, get up, do some stretches and move away from your workstation for a few minutes.

- Ensure the work is risk assessed and adheres to the risk control measures identified therein.

- If you are not sure about the work procedures, ask for help.

- This is an opportune time for supervisors, managers and employees to talk about safety in the workplace.

- Prior to starting work, ensure all tasks are risk assessed and all students and staff, whether full-time or casual, attend the OHSE induction.
